Narayan (Kan
i) Kanikkannan, Ph.D., is President and Principal Consultant of Millennial Pharma Solutions, LLC. Previously, Kani was Director of Formulation development at Nesher Pharmaceuticals, where he was responsible for the development of new products, Technology transfer of formulations developed at Nesher’s parent company, and manufacturing of pilot clinical and submission batches. Prior to joining Nesher, he led and managed the Preformulation and Formulation department at Xcelience for the development of Preclinical, Phase 1 and Phase 2 formulations of NCEs and 505(b)(2) products. Kani was the Manager of Formulation development at Mallinckrodt, where he led and managed a high performing team of formulation and analytical scientists for the development and commercialization of several products containing controlled substances. Prior to that, he held R&D Formulation/Process development roles at Paddock (now Perrigo) and Ranbaxy.
Kani has more than 20 years of experience in Formulation, Process development, Scale-up, and Technology Transfer of a wide range of drug products including Oral Solids, Oral Liquids, Topicals, and Parenterals. He demonstrates comprehensive expertise in the Scale up/ Technology Transfer/Process Validation, and Troubleshooting Formulation/Process/Manufacturing issues. Kani has extensive experience in Preformulation studies, Enhancement of oral bioavailability of poorly soluble drugs, and Preparation and Review of CMC Regulatory submission documents. He is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt and possesses high level expertise in DOE, Quality Risk Management, Development of Effective Control strategies, etc. Kani received his Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from Madurai Kamaraj University, India and Master’s and Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics from Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, India. He did postdoctoral research in drug delivery at Florida A & M University.
